Mission Minded Worship (Psalm 67:1-7)
Paul Davies, 3 June 2018
Part of the Whole Life Worship series, Sunday Evening service
An American author said that 'mission exists because worship does not'. He meant that we need to call people to worship God because they should be doing it but are not. I am not 100% in agreement with his argument but he does have an important point to make. Psalm 67 is a wonderful psalm that gives us some pointers to the relationship between worship and mission. God's blessing upon Israel is a witness to the nations; Israel's worship is a call to the nations and God is ruler and guide of the nations. What can we learn and put into practice for our worship in our missionary context?"

Psalm 67 (Listen)
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song.
67:1 May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us, Selah
2 that your way may be known on earth,
your saving power among all nations.
3 Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!
4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth. Selah
5 Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!
6 The earth has yielded its increase;
God, our God, shall bless us.
7 God shall bless us;
let all the ends of the earth fear him!
