Good Fishing (Matthew 13:47-50)
Dave Sunman, 18 October 2015
Part of the The Parables of Jesus series, Sunday Morning service
Jesus tells the parable of the net to a group of fishermen who knew that after a catch you had to sort between the good fish and everything else that you’d caught. Jesus takes this picture and applies it to God sorting out humanity at the end of time. How can we know whether we are good fish or not?

Matthew 13:47–50 (Listen)
47 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind. 48 When it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into containers but threw away the bad. 49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
