This year as we lead up to Easter, our Lent preaching series is entitled ‘Roots’ – it is an exploration of how the whole story of scripture begins to prepare a way for the kind of Messiah God’s people were to expect. We look at God’s prophetic and saving acts through the figures in the Old Testament who were, in themselves, ‘types’ of Messiah. We will ask what the story of these individuals tell us about the heart of God and the character of the Christ, the Messiah – Jesus of Nazareth.
