We want young people at Hertford Baptist Church to feel welcome and at home. Our team of committed volunteers will do their very best to ensure young people Meet God, Make Friends and Make a Difference.
HBC is committed to safeguarding our young people. We follow safer recruitment guidelines for all our volunteers which includes a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. All our volunteers follow our safeguarding policy.
There are many ways in which a young person can be involved at Hertford Baptist Church.
The Core for young people in School Years 7,8 & 9 meet during the Sunday morning service at 10.15. We follow a topic based syllabus looking at subjects from a Christian perspective. Opportunities to make a difference in a community are planned and in the last year The Core has been litter picking, prayer walking and baking cakes for local businesses. The young people recently put together 17 pots of flowers to bless others in the church with. The young people also enjoy listening to the life stories of people from the church who are invited to come and speak to The Core and Core+.
The Core+ for young people in School Years 10, 11 & 12 meet most weeks during the Sunday morning service at 10.15. We study the Bible to help us meet God and learn how we should live our lives. Recently, we have started to plan and lead sessions for JCKids – part of the children’s work.
Our oversight group, YACOG (Youth and Children’s Oversight Group) meets monthly and constantly reviews the children’s and youth work making sure it is adequately resourced and doing the very best it can to encourage the young people in their Christian faith.
We have strong partnerships with local youth workers, youth organisations and other churches in order that we can effectively minister to the young people in our church and community.
