Events for Seniors
At HBC we strive to provide opportunities for spiritual growth and fellowship for people of all ages and stages of life.
CAMEO
Come and Meet Each Other – for those of retirement age and upwards.
These events happen from time to time. The programme are generally themed and include games, quizzes, demonstrations and entertainment. These can be half days or full days!
Our most recent event was a full day in August 2023 when we enjoyed a fish and chip lunch together, a great talk about the Yarn Bombers, various activities, a sing-song, great cake, and two younger people telling their life stories so far!
We look forward to more CAMEO events in the future! Please see HBC Connect for details.
Golden Lunch
We provide a home-cooked lunch for about 50 people in a happy and friendly atmosphere. It is a time to meet friends and enjoy each other’s company over a relaxed and nutritious meal. The two-course lunch is freshly prepared and cooked, followed by tea & coffee. Between the main course and dessert, there is a short “thought for the day” which can provoke a lively discussion at the table. A nominal charge is made to cover the cost of the meal, currently £4 per person. Golden Lunch is only possible with the help of a team of volunteers who transport our senior citizens, prepare and cook meals, lay tables, serve tables and wash & dry up. New offers of help are always welcome.

HBC’s Seniors Programme also offers a range of opportunities for volunteering. We also welcome new ideas of things we might do that could lead to new members joining or new volunteers offering to help, please contact the Church Office.
