Let’s be concerned for one another, to help one another to show love and to do good. Let’s not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more . . .
(Hebrews 10:24-25)
Please see below for details on how you can be a part of a Home Group.
What are Home Groups for?
-
to get to know other people
As we are a large church, we understand that it is really helpful to be a part of a small groups where you have the opportunity to get to know people on a personal level. In our Home Groups, you will find other members of the Hertford Baptist Church family who are at various places on their faith journey, alongside whom you can grow and be encouraged in your faith and understanding of what it means to follow Jesus.
-
to explore the Bible
As Christians we believe the Bible to be, ‘The Word of God in the words of men’. That is why it is important to try and understand and apply it to our lives. Most Home Groups use study guides which complement the Sunday morning teaching programme. One of the main aims of the group is to seek to apply the teaching in practical ways.
-
to experience prayer
Prayer is an essential part of the Christian life. Without it we cannot communicate effectively with God. By spending time praying together in the relaxed atmosphere of a Home Group, we can both listen to God, and pray for one another.
-
to care
Becoming part of a Home Group means that we are able to help and support one another. This happens at both a practical and spiritual level. The Home Group provides a context in which our care for one another can be expressed.
Joining a Home Group
You are welcome to join a group at any time and try others until you find the one which suits you. For more information please contact the church office.
